i have xm radio, which i love. LOOOOVE. today i switched to the jazz channel, can you say awesome!
my friend korey said a few times last week "stupid jazz, it makes everything slow". each time he said that some smooth jazz wafted in the background. it is true, smooth jazz is the silky corners of life, it is where our comfort curls up. it is the moments we want to last forever.
avant garde/free jazz is the epitome of pure emotions. think john coltrane and ornette coleman. it grabs you, it snarls, it is sometimes ugly, then purrs all in the same moment. it scratches, pulls, screams, demands and cries. i understand why people hate it, it is like a 1000 watt light bulb.
but i love it, i love it all.
